UMass Adjuncts Need Your Solidarity:
Sign Now & Join Us WEDNESDAY!

Brothers, Sisters, & Cousins —

The Adjunct Uprising continues! As contingent faculty at private universities across Massachusetts and around the country are standing up to demand the right to organize and bargain collectively, the union adjuncts at our public colleges and universities continue to keep up the fight for fair wages and working conditions.

The adjunct faculty at UMass Lowell are no exception — they have been negotiating with the university for 11 months, but still they have been working without a contract since July 1 2015! Despite the fact just like all the instructors in the UMass system, they provide quality education to students year after year, UMass Lowell adjuncts are paid 18–34% lower per class than their counterparts at UMass Boston and UMass Amherst, and they have NO access to health benefits. To add insult to injury, they are barred from participating in faculty meetings in some cases, and have no say on curriculum matters or faculty voting.

We know this isn’t just about one group of adjuncts at one campus — this is about the broader movement for the future of our profession and our university system. These dedicated educators need our support to show UMass Lowell that the academic community of Massachusetts is watching to make sure they do the right thing.

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Sign the petition! Add your name to a statement of solidarity here!
  2. JOIN US IN BOSTON THIS WEDNESDAY!
