ANIKAYA Dance Theater invites you to contribute to the creative process of this new work based on the ancient Sufi poem, The Conference of the Birds, a magnificent tale about the human spirit and the quest for the divine.

The feature for March 2018 is Guyclaude!!! He blessed our mic in January as well as an instrumental force with the Black Cotton Club so we had to ask him to feature for us! He is able to captivate the audience with his guitar skills and amazing voice!!

Please show him some love and support, check out his bio and new released music below!!

On the ones and twos, our DJ Shamara Renee aka WHYSHAM with
your host Amanda Shea!! Shout out to our sponsor Transformative Culture Project and Arielle Gray for always supporting us!

Guyclaude (also known as Guy.) is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Boston. He’s began his artistic journey through spoken word, but music soon became his love and focus. As he tackles his 20s, he looks into his past and present in order to pluck the seeds needed to create ripe experiences inside of his music, where he reflects on himself and the world around him. Whether it’s with a guitar, piano, or just his voice, he always ends up finding something..”

AiLi Lives Pays Tribute to Harriet Tubman

“ Join us as we screen clips and discuss “the General” aka “Moses” aka Ariminta Harriet Ross aka Harriet Tubman. A spectacular historic figure who led enslaved Africans to freedom, first from Maryland to Ohio and then back to Maryland to Canada.

A fugitive herself, this tiny lady was an enslaved African in Maryland, who after suffering the atrocities of slavery, physical harm and debilitating lifelong illness, escaped to freedom.

A remarkable feat unto itself, she later returned to American South to free more enslaved Africans in America. Learn of her Shero-ism and bravery and her life.

Join in on a discussion of Freedom and what is the price to pay for it.”

When: 7pm

Where: Haley House Bakery & Cafe | 12 Dade St, Roxbury MA
