Black Woman is God

“ Over 20 self-identifying Black women performers, visual artists and vendors from the Boston area and beyond are coming together to uplift the power of creation. BLACK WOMAN IS GOD is a sacred, ceremonial and celebratory space created by Black women for the appreciation of Black women’s contributions to art, history, and existence. Please note that gender non conforming, and male identifying community members are welcome and encouraged to enjoy the night as well. The event is part interactive gallery, part live performance and part dance celebration.

Radical Black Girl invites you to explore divinity through the lense of the Black Woman. The intention of the space is for collective healing, recognizing our pasts and our ancestry, and reimagining a future in which we are in control of our own narratives.”

“Queens Talk is a monthly women’s empowerment meet-up for women of color. It is a safe space that is held for women of color to connect with each other through small group discussions, story-telling, activities, presentations from women in the community, and relationship-building exercises. The mission of Queens Talk is to engage women in deep and thought-provoking conversations that will encourage the creation of new bonds within the circle of women that attend each event. This program also serves to uplift women to meet their goals and identify areas where they could use a helping hand from sisters in the community. Queens Talk promotes a ripple effect of engaging dialogue and bridges the generational gaps that we often witness as women enter into adulthood. This program aims to connect women to resources in the community that could benefit their self-growth as well as establishing self-care strategies that are highly effective towards making necessary progress along the way. Let’s meet again!”

Thursday 4.19

AiLi LIVE “A Way Home” & “Project Unspeakable”

“ The play, Project Unspeakable, is a vehicle for challenging the silence surrounding the “unspeakable” assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Malcolm X, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and U.S. Senator Robert Kennedy. The scripts makes clear that these are not just stories that point to criminal actions on the part of “dark forces”. Perhaps more importantly, they are inspiring accounts of human transformation, of human awakening, on the part of all four leaders — which was precisely what made them so “dangerous.” Believing that transformation is possible, for us as well as our leaders, can be a welcome source of hopefulness that is often sorely lacking in these difficult times.”

When: 7pm
