Hoop Hop Basketball Tournament

Hip Hop and Spoken word artist Bakari J.B started the Hoop Hop Basketball Tournament three years in an effort to bring the community and local musicians & artists together in the name of basketball. This year, Hoop Hop is sponsored by some of the hottest local spots like Laced, Mass Apparel and Kush Groove. Each business gets its own team and the teams then compete throughout the day for the winning spot. If basketball isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of music and networking going on at Hoop Hop as well! Don’t miss one of the biggest local events of the year!

Since arriving to the US in 2010, Rojas has performed with artists such as Terri Lyne Carrington, Geri Allen, Greg Osby, Bill Pierce, Sean Jones, Kevin Harris, John Lockwood, Carlos Averhoff Jr., and Manuel Valera in venues such as BU Agganis Arena, Boston Symphony Hall, Lincoln Center, The Esplanade, Scullers Jazz Club, Smoke Jazz Club, SXSW, among many others. Fabio earned his Bachelor of Music with a Dual Major in Performance and Professional Music at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he had the honored of being mentored by Terri Lyne Carrington, Kim Plainfield and Neal Smith…”

Boston Children’s Festival

“Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department are proud to present the 2016 ParkARTS Boston Children’s Festival on Tuesday, August 23, at Franklin Park in Dorchester from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ParkARTS is made possible in part through the generosity of Holly and David Bruce.

Children and families from throughout Boston have the opportunity to participate in a variety of free activities from various exhibitors including Cambridge Science on the Street, a show by Rosalita’s Puppets, ParkARTS arts and crafts, the Bubble Guy, ReadBoston Storymobile, Mass Hort, Boston Children’s Museum, New England Aquarium, and more.

The August 23 event will also include book giveaways from the ReadBoston Storymobile, exploring a Boston Fire Department fire truck, identification kits from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, a visit from the Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit, face painting, dance performances, and free treats and giveaways from HP Hood LLC, Polar Beverages, the movie “Storks,” and Magic 106.7.”

Earlier this summer we had a successful event with over 400 comics, swapped, traded and donated! People demanded more and we were invited to have space at Aeronaut’s newest location. So please come, geek out and join us for an all ages community event! There will be live music, food trucks and many comics to be swapped/traded!
