TE-FOOD announces a major step forward, its live pig traceability operation became available on a public blockchain
Spectacular changes take a lot of work to happen, and require many small steps to be taken. Developments are relatively easy in many ways, as they happen behind closed curtains, in an ideal environment.
The real challenge starts with adoption, where you have to align the solution to the requirements of many different stakeholders. Managing a food traceability system in Vietnam, the 15th largest country on the world (by population), always requires to obtain a lot of approvals from different stakeholder levels to move forward.
This is why it’s a proud moment when we can take a large step towards our goals.
On Friday, the 24th of August, Trung Dao Ha (CEO) announced that TE-FOOD’s consumer traceability information of the pig traceability activities became available on a public blockchain.
Why is it an important step?
It shows the local authority’s intention to move towards complete food supply transparency, and to embrace blockchain technology.
This is also a critical step, as TE-FOOD’s live operation finally has a direct blockchain based output. From now on the traceability information of all pigs will be available on a public blockchain network.
For months, we have been talking about our goal to make the traceability information available on blockchain, and finally we made it.
In the first phase the most important part, the consumer traceability documentation became available on blockchain. At the moment, the infrastructure is not yet TE-FOOD’s own blockchain, but the Rinkeby Network. This is a major intermediary step to reach our goal to onboard the complete live traceability operation to blockchain, once our own blockchain solution is ready and running properly.
The announcement happened on a food safety conference in HaNoi, Vietnam, in front of several hundred national and local government representatives.
