Every company has defining moments in their lives. When we launched TE-FOOD in 2016, tracking 1200 pigs per day, when we announced that we will start an ICO, or when our public token sale finished within a crazy 15 minutes.
All these moments were prepared for several months, required hard work from our professional staff, needed several, sometimes hard decisions, but looking back, all efforts led us to these short moments which we can remember.
We believe, today is similar. We launch the FoodChain.
Soon, we will onboard the first batch of masternodes who applied to work with us, and provide the backbone of the FoodChain.
While in its current form it is an empty ledger, we see the millions of transactions in it, the transparent food information it will provide. We see the consumers who take a look at the fresh food products in a grocery store somewhere in the world, and — noticing the TE-FOOD label — they can relax that the food product they intend to buy is what it states on its label. Whether it states it is bio, organic, non-GM, halal, kosher, or from a specific geographical location, the stages it went through will become transparent to the most important participant, the consumer.
The FoodChain will be an important source of information for authorities and retailers too. When an outbreak will happen, it will be used to track down the source of contaminated food products to the source, enabling them to significantly reduce the time and volume of food recalls. It will also decrease counterfeiting and other types of food frauds. There are just a few blockchain use cases which can protect people from getting ill, and literally save lives, but food traceability is definitely one of them.
The FoodChain may be empty today, but it won’t be for too long.
Contrary to several blockchain projects, TE-FOOD has existing operations, serving more than 6000 food companies. In the coming months we will migrate them step by step, and the FoodChain will store several millions of real world transactions.
Even if this moment is a result of the long, tireless work of our team, our partners and our helping community, this is just the beginning. We are working on onboarding new companies of every size, improving our products, developing interesting R&D projects, connecting to new partners who help our goals of achieving a transparent global food supply chain.
