Oh my goodness. How I love succulents. They are the easiest plants to raise and love. You can cut off a little piece and stick it in dirt and lo and behold, a month later, it’s grown a ton! My dog who is the “Mighty Lizard Slayer,” has a tendency to trample some of my succulents. So I find myself replanting a lot.

I have been changing my entire garden from one that needs lots of water to one that doesn’t. Succulents don’t need lots of water. Just a little. Cactus need almost none! But that is a xeriscape and another story.

I discovered succulent tapestry planting from Laura Eubanks YouTube videos when I was recovering from lung surgery. Man oh man, I couldn’t wait to get out there. While lying in bed for hours, all I dreamed of was going out to the nearest nursery and purchasing colorful succulents and planting them. It became an obsession! It was definitely a motivator for healing.

I started a tapestry in an oblong flower bed leading up to my front door. It’s great, because I keep adding to it. That’s the other cool thing about succulents, it’s like a painting. You can change the harmony of color by moving one plant to another area or just adding another. Or you can just wait to see the plants meld into one another. It’s constantly changing and I like that.
