Happy New Year!

If you’re a subscriber, thank you for your support!

Each month we send out a Feature newsletter (week 1) on the previous month’s stories and a Statistics newsletter (Week 3) examining the best performing stories and the overall performance of the publication.

Here’s my selection of must-read articles from December 2021!

Bronwen Scott blew our minds with amazing nature photography in A Koel for Noel.

Storms inspired a link between nature and relationships for Nicole Sponsel in December and she shared her poetry titled The Storm.

In the first of his stories published in TWMN, biologist Juan Ag San, shared his knowledge of Mexican Medicinal Plants. Juan only has 44 followers right now. Let’s get him past the 100 barrier together!

I’m guessing no one had time for interviews and write ups in December. I certainly didn’t! If you’re not sure where to start with interviews, I wrote up my approach in How to Interview and get the Stories for the Write-up.

Do you know someone who deserves to be outed as a Hero of Mother Nature? Someone who promotes connection with nature? It doesn’t necessarily need to be a business, it can be anyone who gets people connected with the natural world. Here’s the call for submissions.

Sustainable Christmas

Kim Zuch gave some of us a walk down memory lane by revisiting a Christmas tradition that is sustainable and fun! Read Colorful Paper Chains make Sustainable Holiday Decorations to enjoy it for yourself if you haven’t already!

The Sustainable Christmas tab will be removed shortly and replaced with a new idea! Sustainable Christmas articles will stay in the publication and be pulled out again and featured in October next year with a rebrand of Sustainable Holidays — that’s the plan anyway!

Tea and A Book

Argh, no book reviews in December. What’s the verdict? Should we remove this tab???

We have a new prompt! Let’s celebrate 2022 by looking back at the wild (and wise) tricks of our ancestors. We’ve borrowed the idea from a Shakespearean quote.

For treason is but trusted like the fox, Who, never so tame, so cherished and locked up, Will have a wild trick of his ancestors.

There are many who shout of “progress” and “looking forward” but we have a lot to learn from looking back and either bringing back the old or happily avoiding historical mistakes.

What do you think of when you hear “wild tricks from our ancestors”? Please submit and share with TWMN!

Click here to read the prompt call.

We’re seeking submissions for all these sections. If you have an idea, let us know!

Thanks for reading this newsletter. Please give feedback! We’re learning this publication thing and we want to cater to our readers not guess what you want!
