Parents are bringing their babies and infants to the Park, now that all lockdowns are things of the past. Sitting imprisoned at home has taught all of us the values of fresh oxygen and sunlight. They watch the risen Sun and marvel together, at every blade of grass. The children see the wonders around them and their eyes glow: the parents look at old things in a new light and their own sense of wonder grows. There is an energy in the morning breezes and the mellow sunlight that makes one feel whole again.

A mother has brought her infant son visiting the Park for the first time. The child is excited. “Look, look,” he exclaims. “The bird is white and brown.” He is reluctant to leave . And then three differently coloured butterflies flit across the lushly growing grass.

The mother is gentle and patient. She lets him stand and stare for as long as he wants to. I can hear his sigh of sheer contentment as they leave.

Children will save the world.

If they are allowed to be children.
