This newsletter is two days early because the next 48 hours will be consumed by my daughter’s birthday. Don’t worry, I’ll still be checking for submissions and getting them published as quickly as I can.

Chaos, nature and mathematics are relentlessly entwined. That’s why the Mandelbrot set appears in the illustration for this newsletter. If you’d like to know more about the Mandelbrot Set, click here.

Let’s look at the month gone past from a statistical perspective and if you think that’s not in keeping with the publication, think again!

Nature is all about mathematics from the Fibonacci sequence to fractals and geometry.

The publication has been around since June 2021. In the last month, growth has been slower than the spurt in September, but we’re still growing! As I’ve said before, I’d rather deal with slow, sustainable growth than grow fast and end early.

Before I go any further…

Please leave a private note on your submissions with your Twitter and Instagram handles so that we can tag you when we promote your writing!

Followers

We hit the magical 50 on November 13th! It may not be the thousands that other publications can boast, but we’re a bit niche and that’s okay!

I’m hoping that current writers for Tea with Mother Nature will benefit from being around for the beginning of this publication and being foundation writers. Thanks for joining us!

Most fans and claps

Things have been shuffling around on the stats page and now the most popular story, when measured by fans and claps over the life of Tea with Mother Nature, is from the pen of the ever-interesting Kim Zuch.

She has written about Noticing Nature’s Tiny Details.

Highest number of views

Dunelair holds her place with the top number of views for A Radically Enthusiastic View of a Hidden World.

Next on the list is yours truly with an unexpected revival of the first story to be published in TWMN, Ten Australian Bush Food Plants for your Garden.

Highest number of reads

A Question Worth Asking still holds place for the highest number of reads over the life of the publication, but Moryt Milo has had more reads in the last month than any other story with One Season Flowers, while Another Bears Fruit.

What’s happening?

  1. Firstly, I must apologise. We have been busy planning a big life change in our personal lives (news to come) and I haven’t been updating the landing page and Instagram as promptly as I would like. I’m working on getting back up to date asap!
  2. Answer the CHALLENGE and submit your tip for a Sustainable Christmas. Read all about it here.
  3. Coming soon — We’re going to work on making sure that we make images more accessible by adding alt text. We’re still working on this. It’s a time consuming task!
  4. TWMN is now on Pinterest! Sustainable Christmas is the perfect way to drive some more traffic.

The future is bright

We do our best to promote our writers and the publication, but if we work as a community we can do more!

Please spread the word. Let’s get people motivated and inspired to help the planet and themselves by connecting with nature and taking small steps towards big change.

I hope Tea with Mother Nature can fuel a neverending spiral of change in the guise of chaos just like the Mandelbrot Set, illustrated in the main image for this newsletter.
