The smallest wonders can surprise us
The stick — if I can even call it that — rests on the sidewalk. From a distance, I think it’s a dead snake without a head until I come closer.
This is definitely something else. An odd-shaped conifer cone from an evergreen tree. I’ve never seen a cone like this before. We have a variety of species in the area, all pump. I wonder if the cone mutated due to the ongoing drought in California. Perhaps…
