Here are some recent snippets from my weekly review. Each week I look back and record what I’ve been thinking, reading, and experiencing in the classroom and in life. Think, Learn, Share, Repeat.

  • The Streak is Still Alive — I’ve now published 98 TGIF Teacher Newsletters in a row without missing a week. Here are the five most popular newsletters from this past year.
  • One Word — This is the time of the year for reflection. I’m in the process of picking my One Word for the next year. Here is a resource in case you want to try it for yourself or with students.
  • Play the Game — Digital games are effective in helping students master material. In some cases, they are more effective than other traditional approaches. Read more here.
  • In Private — Beware of power struggles. Getting in the habit of communicating in a one-on-one setting will often yield better results. Increase your chance at success by letting go of the need to get the last word in.
  • Win or Learn — Failure is one of the best teachers. Removing the chance of failure from the lives of young people removes some of the best opportunities to learn.

Have a great week. If you enjoyed this weekly review you’ll also like my weekly newsletter. You can sign up below.
