Welcome to Teachmitra 1.1
Wait, 1.1? When did 1.0 come out?
Well, yes, we launched in Dec 2016. Teachmitra is peer to peer learning platform. We only had made a very basic version of what it is now. Teachmitra then only could take your blog, video & only see the list of Peers & click on Give Help & Ask Help button (Which only sent us the request in admin & we would know that you wanted to connect).
Something different happened on March 26, hell broke out & we were hit by power of Internet. 3600 people visited us & we registered total of 1200 users on that one single day, so much that we didn’t know what to do next & so had to pause registrations. In these users many were fake ids (40–45%), got access to our service.
After some improvements in registration process & admin panel & sorting real users, we reopened our registrations.

This time users were so much that our modest server got crashed & we went offline! We sat again to discuss our strategy, but this time instead of making small improvements, we decided to go big in terms of website & make a working MVP of what we think P2P should be.
From start our focus on this MVP is Connect request that peers will make, now we have user so building a good search was important, our users increased due to referral & redeem so we have given fair importance to both.
Let’s start from beginning,
We have total of 2.5k+ real peers who are verified. Some of them don’t have their want to learn & can teach filled, so we now make you fill it, compulsory. Yeah, we too hate making something mandatory, but Teachmitra is Learning Network, we want peers to share their learning requirements. This will directly help them when other’s search the skills.
Search:
We have built search from scratch, where you delete whatever you want to do (either Learn or Teach) & enter the skills. Then we get you the list of peers in order of recency. The one who has recently updated skills will come first in the list. You can see the peer’s Points, other’s feedback (in development) , his contribution to the platform through number of blogs & videos submitted (just numbers for now). We will dig deep in future development.
Connect request:
When you click Ask Help or Give Help button in the search list, we ask you to log in or if you are already logged in then we direct you to Connect request process.
We tried to make this process as simple & easy as we could.
We divided the process in 3 small steps-

Provide Your time, Level at which skills are needed or can be thought & your mobile number.
Wait,, why mobile number? You may ask. We ask you mobile number only for us at Teachmitra to contact you via Call or SMSs. We at no circumstances would share the number with any marketing companies or you Peer. Your information is safe with us. Be assured.
I would urge you to try Teachmitra Connect & give us as many feedbacks as possible.
Referral:
This was a major hit in our 1st MVP, so we decided to improve it a bit.
You can send email directly from the dashboard to your friend or colleague & also see your invite stays whether it is pending or accepted.
One more interesting thing that we did was to give you Teach & Learn button so that you can connect with your friends directly. Studies show, people are comfortable in sharing knowledge with the one who they know or have acquaintance. One more point to be noted here is- now for referral peers will get 5 points if their referral has verified email & filled want to learn & can teach.
Redeem:
This earlier was a broken system. Peers used to write us mails requesting their points to be redeemed. Many of the peer understood, but some of the peer would receive our reply but still didn’t use to get why their request was not accepted by us or why they were not eligible.
We in this update have given peers a special section from where they can request to redeem & also see status of their previous requests. Whenever their request is accepted or declined peers will be informed through mails & SMSs.
In addition to the above features we also have improved Notifications experience on the platform, added FAQs incase we have already answered the questions, How it Works Page, Contact Page & most importantly Website Feedback Page where you can provide feedbacks on any features on the website.
What about Blogs, Videos & Activity Centre?
We are currently redeveloping it, improving experiences & solving bugs that you had faced in previous built. Also, don’t worry, your previous blogs are safe with us & we would soon open them again for all the peers!
Considering our limited budget & resources , I’m really proud of where we have reached at present & made what we could do in best possible way. But this is just a start.
We tested our idea of Peer to Peer learning & with your support, we are now modestly launching MVP 1.1, pumped up & excited to see what you do with the website & how you take Teachmitra community to next level!
If you are interested & want to see how it works- use my referral code — 11KNFM! And as usual, let us know if you like Teachmitra & if you feel some thing(s) can be done in more smarter way, we are open for your suggestions. :)
