As the year comes to a close, you may start to plan your New Year’s resolutions. This year, you may just be able to stick to them. While commitment to goals is easier said than done, it’s smart for businesses to take a look at their current standing and outline ways they can change.

If your business is struggling or in need of a major shift, it’s time to find out how you can completely transform your business over the coming year. By setting your goals now, you can enter the New Year in top form.

3 Signs Your Business Needs a Major Change

Change is scary, and in most cases we tend to avoid it until it’s absolutely needed. For a business, a radical change can be a huge cost in both time and money, so it’s hard to initiate something so drastic on a gut feeling.

Instead, look for signs that your company is in need of such a change, so you have the evidence needed to make it happen:

● Your growth is slowing, and it shows no signs of picking back up again.

● Competitors that used to pose zero threat are now ahead of you.

● Your customers aren’t as happy or satisfied as they used to be.

If you’re seeing these signs, you need to start asking yourself some crucial questions. Find out what is the main source of these issues, and how you can eliminate it. Seek out data and evidence to demonstrate this connection, and then act on it.

How to Initiate a Major Change in Your Business

Once you’ve identified the issues and come up with a game plan, it’s time to put your plan into motion. Follow these steps to ensure that you handle the transition properly:

Maintain Communication — The worst thing you can do, is present this change to the rest of your company without clear and factual evidence to back everything up. If you push the change out without any clear insight into the motivation behind it, rumors will begin to fill the gaps and you’ll have a communication breakdown that could have been avoided.

Personalization is key — For your employees and your customers, you should be focused on providing personalized information and instructions about the change. Focus on how it benefits them, and what they can expect from the changes. For employees, focus on what you need from them. For customers, present your new changes in a way that doesn’t come across as sales-y.

Dedicate the appropriate resources — The biggest thing to remember, is that change cannot happen overnight. You’ll need to give this new change enough time and resources to truly succeed. This means that you’ll need to ensure you don’t rush the early stages. Plan consistently and accordingly for the best results.

With the proper planning and dedication of resources, changes can happen organically and smoothly in your business. Give yourself a realistic time frame to make sure everything goes smoothly.
