Summary
I made little waste: orage pill & egg shell. My apartment has a food waste disposal which blends soft food into small pieces and wash out with water. I haven’t thought about where the garbage smoothie goes away, but now started to be curious about that. Plus, no left-over today as well.
Day 03, 020417.
Breakfast
A bowl of cereal & milk / No fresh ingredient /No Leftover
Lunch
Dining out at Phipps Cafe. Quiche and tomato basil soup. / No ingredient / No leftover. I usually leave some amount of food because of big portion. This time the portion was just right. I can still see some people(adults) cannot finish a dish, but I don’t think that is because of portion this time probably taste or other reasons.
Dinner
Mapo Tofu & rice, Lettuce, Kimch/ Ingredient: Grounded beef, Paprika, Tofu, Onion / Waste: Trimmed paprika & lettuce + a piece of moldy bread / We haven’t done the mapo tofu yet but will have it tomorrow.
Grocery
I bought 6 apples at East Liberty Famers’ Market. At grocery, 3 paprika, a pack of tomato, sausage, dozem of eggs, a bag of snack, a bag of almond, and a bunch of banana.
Summary
I tend to cook more than we need. There are two reasons for that. One is to eat it over a couple of meal and the other is to consume given amount of ingredient. For example, although cooking 2/3 of a pack of tofu was enough for dinner, I used up the whole pack because I didn’t want to keep the rest of 1/3 tofu again. Package size has influence on the amount of cooking.
Day 04, 020517.
Breakfast
Mapo tofu and Rice / It was made yesterday. / No leftover and waste
Lunch
Bagle with cream cheese and broccoli soup from O.B.P / No ingredient / No leftover but disposable paper bowl of soup and plastic spoon. Probaby not biodegradable ones.

An apple & A grapefruit/ No leftover / Waste: apple core & grapefruit peel
Summary
Biodegradable waste such as fruit peel may not be really detrimental for the environment. Disposables appear more hamful to the environment also lead more cost to manufacture.
