the hospital tooth fairy + MRI update

Carson had another MRI today to follow up her 10th straight week of chemo… that’s right- 10 rounds are done!! We can’t believe it. She has handled treatment so well so far and has remained healthy. She has another week off of chemo next week but will see some specialists and have more labs drawn. That will complete her induction cycle of treatment and we’ll move forward to her maintenance rounds- 4 weeks on/2 weeks off repeating for just under a year.

We received a call this evening from her oncologist to let us know the MRI showed continued shrinkage of her blob- Praise be to God!

But before that…

We checked back in to our normal floor to have her port accessed, labs drawn, and to see Dr. Kuril before heading down for her MRI. We had to scrub off her new glitter tattoo before she went in(which was very very sad- but thanks to a friend was able to get a new one this afternoon 🥰), as MRI protocol for accessories is quite strict.

She went back for her MRI and Cam and I returned to our spot overlooking the water as we waited with Santa Pup.

We went into this thinking it was no big deal, as she has already had a good amount of anesthesia events/MRIs but this wait was harder than expected for both of us. Our return to the operating floor waiting room brought a flood of really hard memories… we have come so far since our first rounds of waiting to be called back to see our daughter again but the seriousness of her condition remains. We expected this to last an hour so every minute that ticked past that point was met with increasing fear.

When we were reunited with our girl, we were also met by a very proud resident doctor who presented Carson (who was still coming off of the anesthesia… we will have to see what she truly remembers) with a certificate and gift from… the hospital tooth fairy!!

Apparently the tooth fairy came and freed her SUPER wiggly tooth. She even called upon the anesthesiologist’s husband to deliver a $2 to the hospital as she had forgotten hers 😉🥰.

We are so thankful with today’s results and not quite sure how to process it all in this moment. Please keep praying.
