Gideon was born with a patch of blonde hair. He is (if not the only one) one of the few Ghanaians with actual blonde hair. He was born on a Thursday but his day-born name is Kofi. This is because, in Gideon’s family, you are named on the day your head poked out of your mother’s womb (which in his case was on Thursday, September 14th 1989), but he was fully delivered on the next day, Friday. His mother decided to name him on the day of his full delivery but his dad recorded his date of birth on the day he poked out his head.

So yes we suppose Kofi Giddy is one of those miracle babies and his birth explains a lot actually. Gideon is multi talented. He can play an array of musical instruments. We don’t mean play play, like just dabble play, we mean play play, like really play in church and concert bands play. You feel us? In his teens, Gideon used to be paid to play for church programs and there was this one time he got to play for one of Ghana’s former presidents; his excellency J.A Kuffour when he was still president! So is he awesome? Or is he just awesome? :)

The instruments he currently plays are: lead guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, sax, atenteben, cornet, konka and the bass drum (the one used in really pentecostal churches, lmao!).

Gideon studied zoology in the University of Ghana Legon and did his final year project on snakes! He has a strong passion for wildlife. He is currently a co-founder and the Chief Technical Officer at Flippy Campus.

So how did a zoology major become the Chief Technical Officer of a thriving startup? In his late teens, Gideon started working in technology related jobs. Gideon did his national service in the ICT office in one of the halls in the university of Ghana. And this led to his love for the tech space. He has been coding and has worked on a myriad of mobile and web apps ever since.

Gideon aims to be a contributor to large scale apps across the world He has a strong affinity to the django framework and is a pupil of building large scalable products. Kofi Giddy’s vision is to build enterprise software and platforms that can be tested by time and large user numbers.

When not contributing to Flippy Campus’ awesomeness, Gideon plays music instruments at church and is in the counselling and guidance department. For fun Gideon loves to watch movies with his girlfriend, play table tennis and interestingly enough ornithology (that’s bird watching. Fancy name huh?). Gideon will never say no to a good local dish either and he says his favourite foods change with time. His current favourite dish is super soft boiled yam, garden egg stew and goat meat. Dude has really strong roots in local Ghanaian dishes.
