This blog contains just a little about us Kaleidoscopes.

This challenge has been the most interesting for us. We have been completely engaged with this brief for the past 24 hours, with very few breaks, and even less sleep. As we come to the end of the project, we all feel very grateful for this experience and we have all noticed a deterioration in the state of our English at this point.

It was a challenge to understand the ecosystem we were designing for and try to find a space where we could bring in our plan/intervention and we also took quite a few interesting detours to get to our final destination, but these detours also gave us a deeper understanding of the context of community we were catering to.

For the past 24 hours, we have had many disagreements and discussions with each other, in regards to the challenge, but these conversations have led to innovative ideas and perspectives. Speaking our opinions really guided the flow of our thought process. After we narrowed down on a topic, things started coming together. It was enriching to work with friends for such a strenuous amount of time. When one of us were low on energy, the other would be quick to jump to cheer us up, and we kept pushing each other forward to the finish line.

Being Human Centered Design students, we understood the process and methods we could follow to come up with a concept that we were all a part of. But at the same time, it was difficult to not include primary research to inform our proposal. We found ourselves going a bit further from the topic, and after some discussions, we went back to the brief a couple of times to reiterate the main aim and purpose of the challenge. We tried our level best to implement the three most important umbrellas the challenge required of us: social capital, community resilience and smart cities.

After working on this challenge, all five of us agreed that any challenge or college project that comes our way, we’d be able to work towards the solution of the design brief within 24 hours and be content with the outcome of the project.

Thank you, Peter and Trevor!
