Following Ethereum’s first smart contract platform, many other chains are now offering decentralized application capabilities, each having different specifications and value propositions.

But, various needs have arisen in the market that is hindering mass adoption. Usability, scalability, high throughput and low latency are in dire need.

Widely dispersed applications built in isolation on different smart contract platforms are also unable to communicate with each other, serve other smart contract platforms as solutions, or to be ported across chains for increased adoption.

Establishing communication channels between smart contracts and transforming regular dApps into integrated, interoperable decentralized applications (iidApps) is key to the continuous evolution of today’s decentralized ecosystem.

This establishment will be pivotal to the mass adoption of blockchain technology, because it will create an open environment similar to the Internet after Arpanet, where technologies and innovations enabled and built on each other, so that today the Internet feels seamless. OrchestrumOS is being built as a “total chain operating system,” offering cross-chain integrations and interoperability in such a seamless way, ready for end user adoption, compared to today’s technical interoperability solutions that are mostly focused on developers.

Interoperability at both the chain and platform levels will allow OrchestrumOS to create an economy of builders and clients, where developers and customers can meet on an economic commons and mediate products, services and costs.

OrchestrumOS’s main goal is to bring together all blockchain innovations, while empowering individuals and businesses of all skill levels and experience to use, build, and operate iidApps.

Existing dApps may convert to an iidApp by using OrchestrumOS abstraction layers and integration GUI specifically built for making interoperable integrations easy.

We will publish more detailed information on our vision and technical layers. Here, we briefly introduce iidApps, which will allow decentralized applications new functional capabilities, reach, and advancement for mass adoption.

Integrated:

(Layer 1) The application is capable of connecting to an arbitrary number of blockchains and uses the assets, data, functions and state of the chain in a way completely transparent to the terminal user;

Interoperable:

(Layer 2) The application is capable of connecting to other iidApps, in a manner completely transparent to the terminal user;

Decentralized:

The underlying state machine is maintained by consensus, and there is no single point of control;

Application:

(Layer 3) End user utility. The “terminal” point of end-to-end interaction.

Define Layer 1: Fundamental blockchains and protocols, the root face, keeping ultimate state, security, arbitration, assets;

Define Layer 2: Off-root interface implementations — such as sharding, parachains and state channels — that realize a state, compute-reserve and storage cache, to be ultimately settled on Layer 1;

Define Layer 3: Terminal user interface keeping identity, account, security, business logic.

An iidApp is an implementation of terminal services through Layers 3, 2 and 1.
