Other teams can’t hang. Sait Arana cornering his way to victory at the Route 1 Rampage.

It was a great weekend for Team Skyline. We had team members racing in all different parts of the country and abroad with a lot to show before the team gears up for its UCI European debut later in April.

Mike Jones Wins Brinkerhoff Memorial Road Race (NY)

Mike Jones had an emphatic victory over the field on Saturday, attacking the field with a few other riders, then driving the break until the line, where he sprinted for the win. This race had special meaning to him because it was the first race that his newborn son attended. Mike will be a huge asset between his years of pro experience and top form.

Sait Arana Wins the Route 1 Rampage (College Park, MD)

Route 1 Rampage Podium.

Sait won the Route 1 Rampage over the weekend in College Park, MD through sheer skills. After getting to the front of the pack before the final corner, he railed the corner at full speed, forcing the rest of the field to brake (or hop curbs to stay upright.) Sait will be traveling to AL to race with Davey, Andrew, and Justin at the Sunny King Criterium. As the video above proves, Sait is in prime cornering form for the future ahead. Some other crits on the spring menu include Armed Forces, Rochester, and Wilmington, among others. If you’re interested in the rest of the schedule we’ve posted about it at Teamskyline.co where more information about the team, roster, and our sponsors can be found. Be sure as well to check USACrits.com for footage and coverage.

Corey Davis wins the KOM jersey at a 1.NC race in Fully, Switzerland

Corey feeling every 165 km in him.

“It was an absolutely brutal day in Fully (Switzerland.) It was a 165 km road race, with pouring rain and the temperature was near freezing. The move went from the start and I went with them, after all day in the break I narrowly missed the podium. But I still won the KOM jersey.”

Ryan DeWald Takes 2nd Place at the Lucarelli and Castaldi Spring Championships, “Cherry Blossom Challenge” (Newark, NJ)

Ryan narrowly lost the race, after spending the bulk of the race in the break. Davey and Andrew rained attacks at the beginning to establish Ryan’s break, then neutralized the field.
Andrew neutralizing a chase group at Cherry Blossom.

“That was a fast race. But it’s going to be faster in Europe.” Ryan’s post race spirits were high after the season opener for him, proving he’s in good form to hit the UCI events that await TSL in the Netherlands and Italy. “The team did well. We played a bit of offense and defense, and landed in the money by the end of it.”

Davey nearly landed on the podium during a frigid Sunday morning in NYC.

What’s perhaps even more impressive is that Davey Dawson followed up his performance on Saturday by racing the tough NYC Prospect Park race series the morning after, nearly making the podium with 5th place. His constant and consistent results have left him standing 2nd overall in the Prospect Park series in the elite field.

“I’m super proud of the guys,” Ryan said. “We’re doing it. They’re chomping at the bit to go race but we’ve had to hold them back a bit. We can’t afford to waist money on some of these early season races, we gotta focus budget for the real meat of the season. We can’t hit August and not be able to go anywhere. I’m super psyched about our roster, we now have 12 guys- this means we can field two teams at any given time. Until then, we’ve just been these select little ‘tactical teams’ just racing globally and getting results.”
