Organization

Team Current’s week kicked off with organizational details. Due to several class changes we had to reschedule our weekly meetings and arrive at a consensus for a standing client meeting. Similarly, we re-worked our semester schedule based on the feedback we received from Mary and Simone by extending the research period and scheduling a trip to Lisbon.

Stephanie presented a variety of logos, and the team provided feedback. We are very close to a consensus on the logo, possibly working in more “electric colors.”

Interviews

Christyne conducted an extensive literature review preparing for Sonia Matos and Nuno Nunes’ interviews. She provided team members with resources to familiarize themselves and prepare for each interview. Stephanie and myself conducted the interview with Sonia, and gained valuable knowledge relating to participatory design, cultural differences, and experience design. She also recommended that when working with children try to keep them engaged through an activity. Sonia described a time on the Sound Labyrinth where she gave the children a video camera and asked them to pretend to be reporters.

“Success might be simply to highlight a problem. Most of the areas of social design, the solutions are not immediate.”

Stakeholder Map

Team Current also prepared a stakeholder map to better understand our user and their motivations. The stakeholder map highlighted the expansive nature of our project, and helped focus our future ethnographic observations.

Client Meeting

We met with our clients to discuss the research plan and schedule. Similarly, the team shared the research that had been conducted up until this point. The museum director shared remodel plans for a section of the top floor, where they will be implementing the past Capstone’s project. The museum has also been collecting historical appliances that will be displayed in this new section. The Porto Santo project was also discussed and our client is happy to provide a contacts and possible connections during a visit to Porto Santo.
