Just like any other major ICO project, SPECTRE also became a target of phishing attempts from 3rd parties trying to scam the SPECTRE community and make quick money in an unfair way. On 23-Sep-2017, we noticed that scammers sent direct messages on slack mentioning that the crowd sale began, and contribution amounts should be sent to a specified ETH address. Due to our fast reaction, the said user accounts were inactivated and our community members were informed accordingly.

Whenever some project becomes hot in ICO, the only certainty is that scammers will lock on to it like a heat-seeking missile. SPECTRE is no exception. Our team is sure that there will be more attempts and we would like to take this opportunity to warn all members of the SPECTRE community to be extremely cautious. Here are some key rules to follow so that you don’t fall victims to scammers.

· Please be aware that SPECTRE’s team members will not be asking for contributions before the actual token pre-sale on October 27, 2017 and public sale on November 17, 2017. These are phishing attempts by scammers, and should you encounter these messages in your inbox through direct messages, please report them by sending an email to team@spectre.ai.

· SPECTRE’s token sale address will be published only on our official website https://www.spectre.ai. Do not trust addresses posted to Slack or any other communication channel.

· Both pre and public sale addresses will be published in a password protected area. This method of password protection provides the maximum level of security as you are required to log in before the protected token sale addresses are displayed. You will have to use the email id and password you have set up during the crowd sale registration process in order to view the token sale addresses.

· Please be on the alert for fake websites, emails, and slackbot messages. Remember to check multiple sources such as SPECTRE’s website, Blog, Facebook and Twitter to verify if the token sale has started before you start sending your ETH. Our official channels are,

Website: https://www.spectre.ai
Blog: https://medium.com/teamspectreai
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/spectrepage/
Twitter: https://twitter.com/SpectreAI

· We will publish the last 6 characters of the token sale address on our official Facebook and Twitter pages. Please make sure that the token sale address on the SPECTRE’s website ends with the same characters before making a transaction.

· We will never ask you to act in haste and we will never send you emails and direct messages with any special offers. Do not trust Slack and Telegram direct messages, even if they appear to be coming from the SPECTRE team members. Scammers may sign up with usernames that are similar to SPECTRE’s team members and send direct messages which often include urgent “calls to action” before we manage to deactivate their accounts. Be wary of emails containing phrases like “special offers” or “urgent action required.”

· We will never send our website link https://www.spectre.ai on emails, Slack and Telegram messages. Never trust the website link you receive and always type in the website address yourself or bookmark it. There will be fake websites that are designed to look as genuine and innocuous as SPECTRE’s website. These sites may look completely trustworthy but they are not. Scammers might send out an attack email/message that instructs you to click on a SPECTRE’s website link to participate in the token sale. What will actually happen though is that the link will lead you to a fake website with a fake token sale address.

· Scammers are exploiting Slack’s remind feature to initiate a Slackbot direct message to users. Please ignore any direct messages from Slackbot.

Be cautious and do not fall victim to scammers. If you’re concerned or unsure about anything, get in touch with our team directly on Slack or Telegram. We are here to help.

Warning: The information contained in this post is not a solicitation to invest. All ICO participants should carefully go over all the risks described in the whitepaper on the token-sale website. The token-sale is strictly closed to U.S citizens and a range of technical measures are in place to ensure citizens from restricted regions (as outlined in the token-sale T&C), including the U.S, will not be able to contribute.
