tl;dr: Before you join a bootcamp, learn fundamentals via w3school and try running a couple of local projects! This will reduce the amount of time you spend on learning tools and basic concepts in the reduced timeframe, you will be able to network and have fun with projects instead at the meetup/bootcamp.

Before You Jump In, Research the Market

You should know that how much you will be paid to do Web Development work absolutely depends on your network and where you live (market rate). Take a look at this compilation from Indeed.

Note: SF Bay Area plays by different rules, and has a wider skillset due to requiring almost every Web Developer Applicant to put on their full stack hats. You could earn more money on paper compare to the above states, but you will also be asked to do more. Housing is also triple to quadruple the national average. It’s good for seasoned developers to come for the work available, but pretty bad for new comers!
