Just some rambles about newsletters, submission guidelines and wonderful writers on Serial Stories
At the end of every even month, almost always on the 26th, I share a newsletter on Serial Stories. The name of the magazine already reveals what it’s about: stories with chapters.
About two months ago, someone asked me whether they could share a serial where each chapter is exactly 100 words — a drabble.
I thought about it for a moment and concluded: why not?
The submission guidelines said the publication accepted stories with a minimum of five chapters, starting at 750 words per chapter. I changed those guidelines to allow a minimum of three chapters, starting at 100 words. This opens the door to more stories, a trend I hope happens from 2025 onward.
But, I started this writing by mentioning the bi-monthly newsletter.
Why I share a newsletter
A newsletter is my way of giving back to the writers who support the magazine by sharing their stories, one chapter a week. I highlight their stories and show statistics from the magazine. Sadly, Medium has severely simplified the statistics on magazines, and I cannot share as much as I did in earlier newsletters.
