I visited Turku, on the southwestern coast of the Nordic country, out of curiosity and gained new insights

The photograph above was taken while crossing Turku’s iconic Tuomiokirkkosilta (The Cathedral Bridge), built in 1899. The phrase used is catchy, but it is imperative to clarify that no particular political connotations are attached, even though a political slogan palpably inspires it. On the contrary, it is an example of sticker marketing and more of an innovative advertising strategy.

A local entrepreneur named Ayan Nieminen began selling Make Turku Capital Again t-shirts online in 2019. The product became instantly popular, leading to the formation of a brand named Päivitetyt. However, for reasons best known to her, the youngster did not acquire the trademark then.

In the following year, Varsinais-Suomen Kokoomusnuoret, a regional organization in Turku, acquired the trademark of the phrase and began offering products online using the exact phrase. The idea was to use the phrase, clearly inspired by former US President Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again campaign, in fundraising and use the proceeds to support the organization's operations.

In 2021, Nieminen made a license agreement with Kokoomusnuoret, ensuring she was allowed…
