It begins. And we couldn’t be more excited about the future as we embark on this journey. Let’s get to it, shall we?
One week before launching Tech 2025, Charlie Oliver (the founder of Tech 2025, as well as the founder/CEO of Served Fresh Media, Charlie Oliver), was asked to participate in a survey where influencers were asked about various aspects of the future, Ask the Robot Question, Expert Activists & Author Comments, produced by Future Left.
Given a choice of questions to answer, Charlie chose to answer the following question:
The next presidential administration could potentially last until 2025. Are there any specific disruptions you’d highlight for policymakers to be aware of?
Below is a truncated version of her answer that will offer insight into why she launched Tech 2025, why it’s need now, and her passion behind scaling the education of emerging technologies for business people, entrepreneurs, and the general public:
“This is something that I am particularly passionate about (and it’s the impetus behind the launch of Tech2025 which, at its core, educates people and small businesses on the seismic technological shift we will undergo in the next 10 years).
The next administration will have big shoes to fill following on the heels of the Obama administration’s aggressive and fairly effective technological initiatives in STEM education, technology policy, and future tech (like artificial intelligence). Considering the challenges ahead of us with regards to implementing technologies that will literally upend decades-old institutions and laws, and reorder our society in every way, the next administration will need to be even more progressive and creative than the Obama administration on addressing tech disruptions.
The greatest challenge we face with disruption is in educating the general population on exactly what this new technology is, how it will impact their lives, and preparing them psychology for a world where uncertainty and redundancy will likely be the norm (at least in the short-term until we stabilize).
Tech companies and policymakers need to work together to (1) offer practical, real-world education on disruptive technology to the general public (not just institutional, formal education to youth), (2) develop psychological and social tools and coping mechanisms for people to express, understand, and process their concerns at what will likely be a blow to our collective and individual “identity and purpose in the world” from emerging technologies (existential crisis 101), and (3) offer Americans a collective vision that will reach BEYOND the immediate benefits and potential ramifications of disruptive technologies — what’s the point of all of this? What is the vision of the future? What should we be, collectively, working towards that will carry us through the painful challenges of these new technologies? This, I believe, is where we currently falter significantly today.” — Charlie Oliver

Through strategic partnerships and corporate sponsorships, Tech 2025 is building a community that is eager to learn what all of this disruptive technology is, how it will change their businesses, and what they can do to prepare for the future.
Rather than offer a vague “the future out there” landscape, we chose the year 2025 as realistic benchmark for the implementation of the most disruptive technologies (according to the experts developing the technology). We’ll look at the most consequential events happening today, through the prism of tomorrow’s technology. With a focal point of the next 8 years, and an understanding that (especially today) time really does fly and that 2025 will be here before we know it, we are developing a platform and community where people can learn about the specifics of emerging technology, stay abreast of the fast-changing ecosystem, strategize creatively about how to incorporate emerging technology into their businesses, and figure out how to mitigate potential negatives from disruptive technology.
Most importantly, they will be able to connect with other people on problems and ideas on emerging technology (particularly with regards to AI and ethics) and think differently, and more openly, about the future than they did before joining Tech 2025.
