An Easier Way to Share Your Network Passwords With Complete Strangers

I didn’t notice this feature until I happened to be looking in the Wi-Fi section of my Passwords app and noticed this “Show Network QR Code” option. As promised, clicking on it popped up a QR code that would make it very easy to give guests network access.

The older method of popping up a message asking if I’ll share the password when someone tries to join still exists, and is useful for one or two people, but would become annoying for a larger group. By the way, I’m told that Android phones can use the QR code.

Not that I’d let heathens like that into my house.

If it were a large group, I’d print out that code rather than hold up my phone for everyone who suddenly needed to browse the internet. I’d also add my guest network to Passwords; that’s the one I’d share.

It did seem a little weird that it lists every other Wi-Fi I’ve joined: my dentist, my car dealer, and more. At first I thought that I might as well delete all those as I’m unlikely to be sharing them, but no…
