Apple Intelligence This Fall?
Well, that seems pretty quick
Last we heard, the rumor mills were hopeful about getting Apple Intelligence next year. Then Apple yanked it all away from John Giannandrea and put Mike Rockwell in charge. And now the New York Times thinks that Apple Intelligence will be arriving in the fall of 2025:
To me, this sounds like the (likely apocryphal) story of Charles Steinmetz charging Henry Ford $10,000 to put a chalk mark on a generator. Here it’s Apple’s John G. couldn’t make the LLM work well, and then Mike Rockwell strolled in, asked a simple question, looked at the source code, turned to his new team and told them something like “Take out line 56,783, that’s your problem.”
I don’t think so. Either this rumor is bonkers or the whole story of why Mike was brought in is suspicious as hell.
I’d love Apple Intelligence in the fall to be true, of course. I guess that would take care of most or all of the Apple Intelligence lawsuits and, tariffs or not, drive Apple stock up where it should be.
