It Isn’t Your Fault If Tech Doesn’t Understand You
DUNDERHEADS UNITE!
Are you someone who says, “Oh, I just don’t understand tech. I guess I’m a dunderhead!” Do you blame yourself when you can’t figure out how to use an app?
You are absolutely right. You are a dunderhead. Oh, not about tech. No, you are a dunderhead if you haven’t yet realized that it’s not your fault.
The next time you try to do something with your phone or computer and you can’t make it work, raise up your chin and say this out loud:
“The person who wrote this app didn’t do a very good job!”
In fairness to that often nameless person, there may be excellent reasons why they were not able to create a better experience for you. Their boss may be facing a shortened skiing system due to climate change and also might have a miserable boss of his own who wanted the app shipped yesterday because his ten million dollar bonus depends on that. The app wasn’t even close to ready, but it shipped right then. The big boss got the bonus, the developer’s boss got the Aspen vacation, and you got… crap.
