Jony Ive and OpenAI Join Forces To Kill Apple

Some of the tech podcast world’s pundits are predicting that Jony Ive and OpenAI are a real threat to Apple. I wondered about that myself a few months back:

I opined there that it’s not just Apple they’d be trying to beat down. Google, Samsung, and anyone else not making cheap junk would not be ignoring this. I was sure the patent lawsuits would roar in like a New England Nor’Easter if this actually turned out to be a threat to any of them.

Of course, everyone sees Apple in the most precarious position. That could explain why Apple stock is going down today. That sinking feeling in investors’ guts could be accurate, but we don’t really know where Apple is with their LLMs and Smart Siri — we have conflicting opinions, conflicting rumors, but we don’t know. Maybe we will know more after WWDC this June, but maybe we won’t.

I don’t think that matters anyway. Apple does not need to compete with OpenAI, Gemini, or anyone making a ChatBot. Apple needs to have…
