My Hopes for Apple AI in Apple TV

Before you rush to the comment section, yes, I know that Apple has never said anything about putting any Apple Intelligence into Apple TV. They should, because somebody with more brains is going to do an AI powered streaming box and Apple will be left standing flat-footed with a very dumb look on its corporate face. But never despair: six or seven years later they’ll announce it for the following summer.

There are rumors, though. MacRumors says An Apple TV Refresh is Coming in 2025 — Here’s What You Should Know. I hope that is true, and I hope that it will have smart AI.

I want it to be able to help me find something good to watch. Obviously, it should learn what I like and don’t like, but I want more than that. I do not want the crapola I get now, the sections for comedy, drama, or whatever all spread out like an all you can eat buffet.

As I wrote back in August of 2021:

Within each section are dozens or hundreds or who knows how many choices, most of which we’ve already decided that we will never, ever watch, mixed in with things we have already watched and sprinkled here and there with things we’d have to pay extra for.
