Tim Cook Badly Wants AR Glasses — He Needs To Compromise

The Apple tech news has been buzzing because Tim Cook really, really, no kidding, absolutely, not a joke, very seriously wants Apple to make true AR glasses.

Well, gosh, don’t we all? And I mean yes, of course we want AR glasses, but I want Apple AR glasses, not Meta or Google or Samsung, because Apple cares about both my privacy and the privacy of people those AR glasses might be pointed at. Google and Meta care about selling ads and Samsung makes so damn many things I don’t know what they care about! I want Apple AR glasses.

Also because I’m a clueless Apple fanboy lemming.

AR glasses, true AR glasses, are a major challenge. One of the biggest problems is power. Batteries are heavy and create heat. Then if you add a honking power-packed cpu, it’s more weight, and more heat. Ugh!

They’ll solve that eventually. But for now, the solution seems obvious to me: tether the damn thing to the iPhone with a cable! Sure, Apple…
