One known theoretical threat to Bitcoin or any cryptology, crypto currency that Quantum Computers can potentially decode the crypto part. After all it is a machine that specializes in solving hard problems that take too long to solve for conventional computers. But if the crypto does not use prime factorization or numeric factorization, it probably is not immediately threatened.
