World’s Largest Heavy-Lift Sea Vessel With 5,000-ton Crane Being Built In Japan
Japan is boosting offshore wind energy with two of the world’s largest vessels — a Heavy Lift Vessel (HLV) and a Cable Laying Vessel (CLV) — built by Penta-Ocean Construction and Fuyo General Lease.
The HLV, set for completion in 2028, will feature a 5,000-ton crane for installing large wind turbines, while the CLV will lay power cables for offshore wind farms.
These vessels will enhance Japan’s renewable energy infrastructure, supporting the expansion of wind power beyond port areas. This initiative aligns with Japan’s push for clean energy and carbon neutrality.
