The world is your oyster.. well at least it can be online, as long as you have the right tools.
Country hopping in milliseconds
These days you can have access to information like no other time in history. I still remember the days you had to open an encyclopaedia to find an answer or not. Today, Google knows everything. You can have most of your questions answered in seconds.
Google is my professor.
However, there are times when you need to access something online and although you can get to it, you are blocked out due to territorial restrictions.
What happens is, that most countries will restrict access to content based on you IP address, for anyone that is not within their borders. This is predominantly done for copyright and intellectual property rights, as the content is indented for citizens of that country.
There are cases thought, where expats move to another country and want to still have access to TV channels online that won’t be able to do so.
You can ask those websites to allow you access, proving your citizenship, but there is an easier way.
Enter Overplay VPN
There is something called, Virtual Private Network and it is a technology that is being used by individuals and corporations in order to protect their activities online and be safe.
Another advantage of VPN though, is that once connected to a VPN server, you are assigned an IP address from the location of that server, which gives you the benefit of appearing to be in a different location based on your IP address.
There are quite a few services out there that can do that, but I have been using Overplay VPN for a couple years and I am really with it.
You can access more than 25 countries in a just a few seconds. This is amazing.
Not to mention the fact you are being protected from data sniffing and Deep Packet Inspection.
You would be terrified if you knew what happens, next time you connect to an open wifi like Starbucks or other coffee places. You can use something simple like Firefox on your laptop and a plugin like Firesheep and you be logged in someone else’s email in seconds, by capturing the session cookie.
It is scary, I’ve seen it.
The good news is that you can protect yourself by connecting to Overplay.
I highly recommend that you get an account today, by signing up here.
As an added bonus, Overplay rolled out a couple years ago a technology that only requires you to change the DNS on your device or your router and appear to be in the United States or other countries and have to access to BBC, NBC, ABC, Netflix and other services.
This is especially handy with Apple TV and it is super fast. You can find a guide here if you want to try it with Apple TV.
Sign up today for either full VPN services for $10 / month or just Smart DNS for $4.95 / months. You can get a discount if you sign up for a whole year. Just use the link here.
