Geely and Tencent collaborate on strategic digitalization
On January 19th, Chinese automaker Geely and Tencent signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Hangzhou.
The two parties will launch strategic cooperation in fields such as smart cockpits, autonomous driving, digital marketing, digital bases, digital new businesses, and low-carbon development.
It is understood that Tencent will help Geely open the digital closed loop of the entire industry chain including product development, manufacturing, marketing, usage, user operations, and after-sales service, to build a “people-centered” digital service system.
At the same time, the two parties will jointly promote the low-carbon development of the entire automotive industry chain.
The joint construction of a “carbon neutral” open platform, accelerating the application of the automotive industry to achieve carbon-neutral goals through scientific and technological means and scientific management.
Geely said that this strategic cooperation aims to jointly build a next-generation smart cockpit, integrating Geely and Tencent’s ecosystems, and to open the mobile phone and vehicular services.
The two parties will also launch cooperation in a virtual simulation of autonomous driving, cloud platforms to accelerate the development and application verification of autonomous driving products, and promote the improvement of relevant standards and regulations.
Before this, Geely and Tencent have launched effective cooperation in the field of travel such as the Internet of Vehicles and smart high-speed rail.
In 2018, Geely and Tencent cooperated for the first time and joined hands with China Railway Investment Co., Ltd. to jointly establish CRGT (China Railway Gecent Technology Co.), providing users with a variety of station-vehicle integration, online and offline coordinated travel services based on the high-speed rail travel scenario.
In 2019, ECARX, a strategic investment enterprise of Geely Holding Group, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tencent Autolink to carry out in-depth cooperation in areas such as intelligent network services, joint user operations, AI, and cloud technology.
At present, Tencent’s car service has successively connected to various models of Geely and Lynk & Co.
