Last week, myself and a number of students from Tech Jobs Academy attending a Meetup at Microsoft. They showed us how they use their Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) to manage mobile devices in the enterprise. It was interesting to see how mobile devices is changing the way we do business today and how Microsoft plans on managing them.

In this blog, we’ll look at just a couple of these of these features:

  • EMS works on a wide variety of mobile devices including iOS, Android, and Windows Phones.
  • With Microsoft Intune, it is easier than ever to manage your mobile devices. It is delivered through the cloud and works in conjunction with Active Directory and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
  • Ability to BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) and securely separate corporate and personal applications.
  • If mobile devices are stolen or lost, you can easily perform selective wipes to protect corporate data.

As mobile technology because more and more powerful, managing them in a corporate setting will be important. Not only is the hardware getting better, but new frequencies are becoming available like 5G. According to CNN, by 2020, our mobile phones will be able to operate at 5G (12x faster than 4G). With all these new changes, mobile devices will be important in any environment, I’m glad to see Microsoft is keeping up with the future.

There are many more features not listed here. If you are interested, you can learn more here.
