William Gibson and other authors have given us the idea of a metaverse as a physical space. However the real physical space behind the screen, the tech’s actual space is never talked about. The honest truth is the world behind the screen is not as glamorous as we might think it is. Oftentimes the technology behind the screen is green motherboards and wires and it is very cold and colorless. Now you may be wondering what happens when we change pages or close apps or open apps. The unfortunate reality is these signals are often just moved to other places on the motherboard and left there until they are needed again. An interesting comparison to this is concept of how are brain functions. If you look closely you can see that the human brain functions like a motherboard. Oftentimes our memories and thoughts when we are done thinking about something are often just left in a certain spot in our brain and are not accessed until it is triggered by either necessity or feeling. The similarities between these two spaces that are considered to be extremely complex and interesting are actually quite simple and boring at face value. These similarities also show how the line between technology and the human brain can often be blurred and the two can collide.
