To transfer files from your desktop computer to your newly configured RaspberryPi, use an SSH Client, such as WinSCP on Windows. Connect in SSH mode using your Raspberry IP address, username and password, to copy the media files you want to use on the SD card.

WinSCP - files transfer

I have copied some music files to the SD Card, I’ll use cmus, a lightweight minimalist audio player in command line. You’ll just have to remember a few keyboard shortcuts to get started:

  • 1–5 to swith views
  • a to add folders to cmus
  • tab to switch panels in main view (1)
  • space to open folders
  • enter to play
  • s to shuffle

You now have a working minimalist and local audio center to connect to your speakers. Control it in SSH through your PC or Smartphone to add and play contents. I recommend JuiceSSH app to do so.
