FastVPN vs. NordVPN
I bought and used both Namecheap’s FastVPN and Nord’s NordVPN in September 2021.
Who’s writing this?
Hi, I’m Félix Paradis, a freelance web developer. One of my clients required me to use a VPN while I’m doing the digital nomad thing in Mexico.
I didn’t have much experience with VPNs before; used a free one to watch content at some point but that’s about it. NordVPN seemed to be the reference and FastVPN was from NameCheap. NameCheap has been my DNS provider for many years and I’ve never had a problem with them so I thought I’d give a try to their much cheaper VPN offering.
Pricing
Both NordVPN and FastVPN are constantly on sale. If you watched anything on YouTube in the past 5 years you must’ve seen NordVPN sponsoring videos. And if you’re on NameCheap’s email list you must get insane promotions from them every week.
In both cases, these promotions seem to target new customers.
Also in both cases, they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.
But the important thing here is that FastVPN is cheaper by a lot.
I paid 12$US for 1 year with FastVPN and 89$US for 2 years and 4 months with NordVPN.
