Hired.com, self-titled “The Marketplace Where Tech Companies Companies Compete to Hire You”, promises to deliver “5 to 15 real job offers from 1000+ top companies in one week”. They also put out a little marketplace review to show what they did during a 1-week Hired auction (http://maptiv8.com/hired). The data showed some interesting figures that make being Hired look pretty appetizing. Salaries shown ranged from $50k to over $175k with bonuses $1k to over $30k. But what’s really interesting is the breakdown. Check out this quick distribution graph I threw together:

It shows a heavy set of these offers are coming in the $100-175k range. Clearly this dollar amount will vary with a bunch of factors (skillset, location, funding stage, equity comp, etc), but it is still informative to see technology roles with such high levels of demand.

Hurray.

So, if you’re a front-end, back-end, full-stack, data-scientist, or similar person — congrats.

or Boo.

If you’re on the idea side of things, it shows you what you are competing with to hire talent. Be prepared to convince someone to share your vision and dream and/or get those skills yourself.

or Both.

Though it is part of your challenge now, hiring and managing individuals with these skillsets has its own financial benefits. The more you can learn of the technology and its business uses, the more valuable you become.
