Back in 2019, Tesla shook the world by revealing its EV truck, the Cybertruck. Initially promised to be here by the end of 2021, it seemed as though Tesla would be the first to contribute to the electric truck market. Since then, however, several competitors have emerged, preventing the Cybertruck from being the default option once it finally debuts.

Rivian took the crown in being the first one to market, and the F-150 Lightning is only a few months away from being released into consumers’ hands, while GM now has two electric pick-ups on the way. Having said that, the Rivian R1T is still being produced in small numbers, and the Hummer EV demands a six-figure price tag.

Consequently, that would leave you with the only realistic option of an F-150 Lightning. Until now, that is. Chevrolet unveiled its first EV truck, an electrified version of its widely-popular Silverado. Promised to start at just $40,000, this truck could be yet another competitive entry in a market Tesla has yet to enter.

So, that begs the question, is Chevy’s Silverado ahead of all the other EV trucks on the market? And will Tesla’s Cybertruck stand a chance once it finally becomes available? Let’s find out.
