Two Stories

“Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them, so go out and start creating”

The fire it’s still cracking, the wine bottles are almost empty. A warm Californian afternoon turned into a chilled night

This time we heard two stories, both of them have many lessons to share.

On one side, we have the life of one of Argentina’s most experienced entrepreneurs. On the other, a group of three “cordobeses” with nothing to loose.

One tells us how he got started by disassembling videogames, and doing reverse engineering of them in his room. The others tell us how they met each other in their childhood.

He tell us about how studying law was one the worst mistake he ever made, but how it allowed him to spend a semester abroad and work and experience the internet for the first time. They tell us about how they started their startup and the ambitions they had.

He tells us about his first venture, one of Argentina’s first ISP, and how a underage employee was searched by the FBI for hacking something he shouldn’t have done. They tell us how choosing 25.000$ from an incubator was a better decision than taking 250.000$ from an investor.

He tells us about how choosing the wrong partner almost kills his company. They tell us about the thought process of moving to Silicon Valley.

He tells us about how failing and hitting rock bottom allowed him to focus on the passion he had when he was a kid, developing video games. They tell us how they broke up with their girlfriend before moving to give this venture a better chance to succeed.

He tells us how he loved the process of building a team that develops products. They tell us how balanced their founding team is, and how they complement each other.

He talks from the experience, but he still has a lot of gas in the tank. They talk from the excitement of being in the best place to build a technological company and from the hope of the road ahead.

This place has many stories. This are just two samples, from very different perspectives, but they show us that this can be done, that this place is within our reach.
