Weekend Tech Reading 10/06/17
This article has been shared quite a bit already but I am happy to keep this tradition going. The blog post is from Janet Hughes ‘What a digital organisation looks like’ (06/06/17) The question is good, as some might say ‘hey, we are a digital organisation’ but after reading Janet you think, well are you?
I am on LinkedIn and check into it about once or twice every two weeks. I think of it less as social media and more about keeping my profile up to date. This article is a challenge from Elle Hunt in the Guardian asking us to consider if ‘LinkedIn is the worst of social media. Should I delete my account?’ (09/06/17)
I could not resist reading this article. It’s about the Science Fiction Advisory Council. Which sounds dry and cool at the same time. This article from Motherboard sets the scene as ‘Sci-Fi Authors Are Banding Together to Write Roadmaps for Our Future’ (01/06/17) Maybe more organisations should consider having a sci-fi writer in residence.
Sometimes the best reads are when someone reports back honestly how they got on with a social media channel. I liked this report back from Andrew Goldstein it’s called ‘The People You Meet: Some reflections on Snapchat journalism’ (03/06/17) This article is not just for journalists but also for the rest of us trying and sometimes failing on Snapchat.
That’s it for this week. Have a happy tech weekend.
