At Tech4Germany, we are working with the most talented innovators and designers to equip Germany for a digital future.

We want all social groups to be equally involved in shaping this future and to benefit from digital progress.

We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming space regardless of age, gender, origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, mental or physical disability, physical appearance, religion, level of knowledge, experience, socioeconomic status or background, political affiliation or other attributes.

Tech4Germany is designed to be a place for people with different skills and approaches to work together and achieve common goals. Therefore, we do not expect everyone to have the same opinion. However, we expect differences of opinion to be resolved respectfully and the abilities of others to be respected.

It is the job of everyone to maintain this community code — be mindful in your interactions with others. If you feel that someone has violated this community code, talk to us. You can contact the Tech4Germany team and Awareness Officers, or report the violation anonymously using this form.

Unfortunately, many events, expert groups, commissions, interviews, fellowships and other public positions in the tech sector are predominantly male, hetero and white. It is important to us to incorporate different perspectives, perspectives and interests in as balanced a way as possible. As a technology fellowship, we recognize our responsibility to reflect this, especially in the design of digital services. We therefore strive to achieve gender parity within the framework of the Fellowship. In addition, we are committed to adhering to the following rules as part of our public engagement:

  1. When Tech4Germany representatives are asked to participate in events or publications, the organizers will be informed of the importance of diversity for Tech4Germany by referring to this Community Code.
  2. Every panel, every event agenda, and every list of authors with which we are involved should have at least one female participant for each content item; only a female moderator does not fulfill Tech4Germany’s claim to diversity.
  3. In the event that the agenda/activity does not sufficiently meet our diversity objectives, we will offer the organizers the opportunity to help them achieve a more balanced gender distribution by providing guidance on suitable individuals.

We are aware that working towards a balanced gender distribution is only one element of a comprehensive and consistent diversity strategy. We therefore regard this Code as a first, urgent step that should be followed by further steps.

Tech4Germany invites all institutions and associations to participate in the conversation on this topic and to further develop this community code with us.
