In November, we partnered with Uber for a discussion on California’s re-entry population and the obstacles they face when it comes to finding housing and employment. Jordan Medina, Uber’s Bay Area Community Partnership lead, led our panelists through a discussion that covered Prop 47, opinions on #banthebox, and policy ideas to move us forward. You can watch the whole panel discussion here.

Panelists talk California’s re-entry population and the challenges they face.

A big thanks to our panelists Natrina Gandana (Program Director, The Last Mile), John Jones III (Community Organizer and Life Coach, CURYJ), and Malia Cohen (District 10 Supervisor, City and County of San Francisco)! And a special note of thanks to all who attended — first-timers and veterans alike — for yet another dynamic conversation on a very important topic.

We are organizing the tech community to advocate for a tech-driven economy in the Bay Area that works for everyone. We believe the tech industry can and should generate widespread opportunity instead of inequality and displacement.
