We can’t wait to welcome you to Copenhagen’s iconic Meatpacking District for 5 days of deep-dive summits, community meetings, open-air talks, installations, parties, reflection sessions and new connections!

In this post we share our thoughts behind the program and festival format, and guide you to the ultimate festival experience.

The City as Your Stage

With Techfestival we take tech out of convention centers and free it from artificial light and endless powerpoint presentations. September 5–9, Techfestival takes over the vibrant Meatpacking District and run all activities at local galleries, clubs, restaurants, bars and warehouses.

When the day program comes to an end, we gather all participants at our open air Main Stage area for a shared experience with the citizens of Copenhagen. Here, we address the crucial questions of current technology progress through talks, conversations, exhibitions and performances.

No Fast Food Behaviour

At Techfestival you participate to create. We have invited more than 300 experts and organizers from around the globe to co-create the program and activities. They will create an intimate setting for participation, real talks and tangible outcome published to people that work on digital development and transformation. The 200+ activities have a true participatory format, from day-long summits to talks, exhibitions and community gatherings.

10 Festival Tracks

All program activities examine the impact of technology within 10 aspects of our societies:

Ego, Food, Play, Learn, Create, Work, Start, Cities, Energy and Democracy. The tracks are created out of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, starting with the self and stretching out to the broader societal matters. From the individual to the collective level, the tracks are meant to evoke thoughts and spur conversations on how we as humans are affected by the technological development.

“Instead of focusing on techy concepts like Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence or GovTech, we wanted to bring in the human aspect of how technology impact our lives. Therefore the program is built up around the 10 tracks that most people can relate to in their daily lives” says Kristoffer Tjalve, Head of Co-Creation.

The festival tracks also help you to navigate in the extensive program. Depending on your interest, you can immerse yourself in the energytech revolution, contemporary art in VR or AI powered supermarkets.

The democracy track, as an example, highlights how the technology development affects the governing of our societies. As part of the track, you can test your digital debate skills in the meetup ‘Civilizing the Digital Conversation’ or find out what the internet is made of by applying for the ‘Internet Infrastructure Summit’.

Meetups, Summits & Talks

The program invites all curious minds to participate, learn and co-create at this year’s festival. It is designed so it caters to professionals and tech enthusiast as well as all curious minds who want to join.

Targeted at professionals, summits are day-long participatory gatherings around a specific topic and designed by international experts. Among them you find Horace Dediu, renowned expert on complex data analysis, who is hosting the Micromobility Summit and the writer Ingrid Burrington, who stands behind the Internet Infrastructure Summit. All summits require application and have limited spots, so make sure to apply today.

Meetups are Techfestival’s co-created events hosted and curated by organizers from diverse tech communities around the world. Most of them takes place after working hours, and are open for everyone with a wristband. However, capacities are limited so remember to register for the meetups that you would like to attend.

The dynamic evening program includes talks, Q&As, performances and parties. Following fresh insights at the daytime events, our key speakers take over the main stage in the festival area. Kevin Slavin, James Bridle and Claire Evans are only some of the names we look forward to welcome to Techfestival.
