And like a snap, November 2016 is in the books. And while we’re wrapping up 2016 as a whole, we’re also gearing up for 2017 — The TechGen’s third year! But I’m getting ahead of myself.

Looking back over the last four weeks, we had an incredibly social month. We kicked things off with our Trivia & Teasers event at LogMeIn. This intimate event brought together LogMeIn engineers (from all types of backgrounds and projects) for technical brain teasers and trivia with engineering/computer science students. Turns out, the teasers were really hard! But everyone had a good time laughing through the struggle and then things really lightened up with pop-culture trivia. Questions like “The characters from ‘The Office’ work in which paper services company?” (Answer: Dunder Mifflin).

Our next event was UnpitchEDU — a new take on the New England Venture Capital Association’s UNPITCH which flips the pay-to-pitch model on its head. We convened a dozen local investors like Ash Egan, Anne Bozik and Juan Luis Leung Li who bought dinner for student entrepreneurs from nine different campuses. After some dinner and networking, groups of two student entrepreneurs sat with investors to talk through questions and challenges they’re encountering as they continue to build their companies. Ultimately, UnpitchEDU was a huge success! And we cannot wait until the next one.

TechGen also visited quite a few campuses hosting infosessions at Babson College and Wellesley College as well as a workshop with Berklee College students. I’ve been meeting with Boston College, Brandeis University, Harvard College and Tufts, as well. So needless to say we have been all over Greater Boston and have some great things in the works for spring.

The year isn’t over, though! We have two more events this week and we’d love to see you there! You can learn more and register here.
