Last Thursday we kicked off summer with Urban Beach at MassTLC’s Boston TechJam! It was 80 degrees and sunny with a bright blue sky — needless to say the perfect beach day.

This was our second annual Urban Beach and in true TechGen spirit, we brought together our community of students and companies for fun and games to celebrate the beginning of summer. But this year was also notably different since we joined forces with Boston’s biggest block-party, Boston TechJam. A section of City Hall Plaza became Urban Beach with air brushed tattoos, an impromptu playground, slushies and swag, on swag, on swag.

By collaborating with Boston TechJam, we saw attendees from all corners of the innovation community in attendance. By engaging students, we were able to expose both interns and students to more of what Boston has to offer.

Thanks to all of you, Urban Beach ROCKED. The space was packed with students mingling, talking with founders and eating food from some of the best food trucks in Boston. The goal of the event was to get students out an about, meeting each other and influencers that make up this incredible innovation community. For those students in Boston this summer, whether interning, studying or just hanging out, growing your network by meeting as many people as possible is going to do two things. First, it’s going to make your summer far more enjoyable. Second, it’s going to expand your network, a network that you can call on for years to come.

If you didn’t make it out to Urban Beach or TechJam, it’s okay, there are still plenty of opportunities to build your network. We’ll leave you with a few event suggestions.

6/28: Sales and Marketing workshop with Scratch Marketing & Media
