Apple launches new 4K 21.5" iMac and refreshed 27" iMacs
Apple has launched the new 4K 21.5" inch iMac and a refreshed 27" inch iMac today alongside its new Apple keyboard, trackpad and mouse accessories.
The display for the 27" inch and 4K 21.5" inch iMac have also been improved with better colour reproduction of reds and greens which Apple calls “Red-green Phosphor LEDs” or “P3 displays” which could assist with more crisp and accurate image and videos. The iMac’s also retain the same form factor. The new iMac 27" inch will be using Intel’s latest Skylake processor while the 21.5" inch iMacs will be having broadwell processors.
Now every 27" inch iMac comes with a 5K display as standard while the 21.5" inch iMac has the normal version alongside the newly released 4K display version.
In terms of configurations, there is a lot to choose from starting from a 3.2GHz quad core Core i5 processor all the way to 4.0GHz quad-core Core i7 while you can choose between an AMD Radeon R9 M380, M390, M395 or M395X graphics processor with upto 4GB of GDDR5 memory, upto 3TB fusion drive and upto 32GB ram for the 27" inch iMac.
The 21.5" inch iMac with 4K display can be configured upto a 3.3GHz quad-core Core i7 processor with upto 16GB ram, 2TB fusion drive and an Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200. Dedicated graphics is not available on the 21.5" inch iMac lineup.
The 27" inch iMac starts now at just $1799 compared to the previous $1999 for the 5K model while the 21.5" inch iMac with 4K starts at $1499 with the normal version at just $1099.
